Dr. Ravi A.V. Kumar was born on May 27, 1964. He
received his MSc degree in Physics in 1986 from MG University Kottayam,
Kerala and his PhD degree in 1993 from the
Laser Division
, Cochin University of Science & Technlogy, Cochin, Kerala
in the field of Laser Applictaions. He has been a scientist at the Institute
for Plasma Research since 1993 in the Free-Electron Laser project working
towards the development of a high power microwave FEL.
He has been a JSPS post-doctoral fellow at the
Department of Accelerator Science
of the
Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research
of the Osaka University, Osaka Japan during the period 1999
to 2001. During his tenure at Osaka University, he worked on linear
accelerator based experiments on SASE FEL in the far infrared region.
His current research interests include SASE FEL's
and associated phenomenon, computer simulation of FEL phenomenon.
